the hotel is lovely and located next to the train station and 5 minutes from town. only downside was the room smelt very damp inside.

Worst checkin process in any hotel, fully automated bring back the desk with people, light not working in bathroom, room smells like bleach

5 start because the staff are simply exceptional. Extremely kind, helpful and all around great people. The room was clean and the reception area has recently been refurbished and it looks stunning.
Loved my stay, but the staff are simply amazing. Keep it up and i wish them all the best because they deserve it (and a raise)

Have been using premier inn for years and always leave having had a good stay, unfortunately, with this new unmanned system, we had a bad experience. We didn't have enough loo paper. Husband went to the newly refurbished reception at 5am and not a soul insight. He ended up having to go outside to our car, which was parked 5 minutes away where we luckily had a box of tissues. We managed to speak to the assistant manager when we went for breakfast who apologised and pointed us to a ridiculously small button, the size of a light switch, in between the two checking in machines on the wall. This button had no sign or anything that stood out to suggest "call for emergency!" Come on Premier inn! We know you like to keep costs down but this is ridiculous. Always have a human and not a button to help in times of an emergency!

Not bad. Had to ask reception if they could clean the shower head as pink ginger on the shower head. However they did clean it promptly. Lots of noise heard from next door and alarms thru the walls. Nice location and usually nice meals. Tv does show Gb news so that’s good!

Lower quality than other premier inns. We found a half eaten apple on the floor left by a previous guest so it seemed like the room wasn't cleaned properly before we checked in.

Getting there is awkward with bags as the hotel has no parking. Restaurant was being refurbished at the time I stayed

I stayed over night as my graduation was being held in Chelmsford. The hotel is close to the station, it's close to Chelmsford cathedral and there are shops and restaurants close by. The staff were all every helpful, my room was clean and the beds are incredibly comfortable (which is the case with all premier inn's I've stayed in so far lol).

They never pick up the phone..EVER. I called repeatedly for days different times of the day (supposedly the times that they are there) and no one answered not even once. This is unacceptable. And there is no email address so they are unreachable from any point. Do better.
